Quick answer
- The cheapest OLED laptop we found at Best Buy is the HP OmniBook 3: $399.99 with 8GB, $499.99 with 16GB and $599.99 with 16GB and 512GB.

- Both run Snapdragon (Arm) chips, so check that your Windows apps support Arm before you buy.
- An OLED screen is not always the brighter one: the OmniBook’s panel measures about 300 nits, less than the IPS screen of the $629.99 Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i (423 nits).

What an OLED screen trades away
- Brightness. The OmniBook’s OLED panel is about 300 nits in measurements, below the 423-nit IPS screen of the IdeaPad Slim 3i. OLED wins on contrast and black levels, not necessarily on peak brightness at this price.
- Refresh rate. The Zenbook A14’s OLED is 60Hz, while the IdeaPad’s IPS panel runs at 120Hz.
- Flicker. Reviewers flag PWM flicker on some OLED laptops, for example the OLED panel of the Lenovo Legion 5 15 gaming laptop. If you are sensitive to flicker, look for it in a review of your exact model.
- Chip. Under $1,000 both OLED laptops use Arm chips. They are efficient, but some apps, games and drivers are built only for Intel and AMD; see Windows laptops on Arm: who should buy one.
