The short answer
At Best Buy on 1 November the cheapest RTX 5060 laptops with 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD were $1,299.99: the Gigabyte Aero X16 and the Gigabyte Gaming A16. They share the GPU name and the same 85W power limit, yet the Aero scores 73 on the Dinho Score and the A16 60, mostly because of the screen, the build and the weight. In the Aero, the step from RTX 5060 to RTX 5070 cost $200 and added 1 point, because Gigabyte holds both chips to 85W. Laptops under $1,000 are covered in our budget gaming laptop guide; this one starts where that one stops.

What the prices show
- The same GPU name and price, 13 points apart. The Aero X16 and the Gaming A16 both have an RTX 5060 held to 85W, 32GB and 1TB, for $1,299.99. The Aero is lighter, has a sharper and brighter screen and a metal chassis; the A16 has the longer battery in a gaming test.
- The RTX 5070 step is $200 for 1 point in the Aero. Gigabyte limits both chips to 85W, so the bigger name buys little. A 115W chip is a different story: the TUF A16’s RTX 5070 posts the fastest graphics result here, but with 16GB and 512GB at $1,599.99.
- Watts matter as much as the name. Reviewers found an 85W RTX 5070 no faster than an RTX 5060 at 115W, and the 115W RTX 5060 in the OMEN 16 matches the average of its class. Our laptop GPU comparison explains the gap.
- A discount is not a score. The Alienware shows 35.6% off a $1,924.99 reference and still scores 51, because of its 300-nit screen and loud fans. The prices to compare are the ones you pay for the configuration you want.
